JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas – Air Education and Training Command will launch the first installment of a series of conversations centered on race and diversity in the Air Force July 24 beginning at 5 p.m. central time.

The first episode of “Real Talk – Race and Diversity in the Air Force” will air live on the "Air Education And Training Command" Facebook page, hosted by Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, commander of AETC, with Maj. Dan Walker, an instructor pilot from the 435th Flying Training Squadron.

Walker was the first African American pilot to complete the F-22 Raptor basic training course and will discuss his experiences with racism while in training during the broadcast.

“Both Chief Gudgel and I have had many productive conversations with small groups, listening and talking in safe spaces that included both enlisted and officers of color,” Webb said. “Our goal is to share this safe space with all Airmen and empower everyone to be a part of the real dialogue we need to jump start the ideas and action that will root out the unacceptable racism that exists in our ranks.”

Viewers are encouraged to submit questions on the AETC Facebook page, which will be answered during the event.
