DOD, Air Force declaration of HPCON Charlie

VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – To combat the spread of COVID-19 across the Department of Defense, the Air Force and local communities, the Secretary of Defense directed all Air Force installations to move to Health Protection Condition Charlie on March 26, 2020.

In accordance with that guidance, Vance Air Force Base will institute HPCON Charlie measures effective immediately.

HPCON Charlie measures include, but are not limited to:
Potential health screening at gates and medical facilities
Maximizing social distancing
Ensuring group activities include less than 10 personnel

Vance will continue to execute its mission in support of national defense while balancing the safety of personnel, their families and the local community.

The base will maintain mission-essential facilities, to include the Commissary, Postal Services, Military Treatment Facilities and Pharmacies, Child Development Center, Teen and Youth Centers and other services required for official business.

However, access may be limited and additional restrictions may be instituted as needed.

HPCON C measures are mandatory for Vance military members and are highly encouraged for DOD civilian and contractor employees, and family members to ensure the continued health and safety of Vance’s downtown partners, civilians and their families.

Everyone should remain informed regarding the symptoms of COVID-19 (see links below) and immediately contact medical authorities if you develop symptoms, have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or have recently traveled from an affected area.
