VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --   Vance's Financial Services began migrating to the Air Force Financial Services Center at Ellsworth AFB, S.D., on Jan. 9, said Maj. John Ryan, 71st Comptroller-Contacting Squadron commander. Most military pay and travel pay completed the migration Jan. 13.

"These changes will help to provide more effective and efficient finance operations and the impact on customers should be minimal," he said.

Financial operations from 93 separate base finance offices worldwide, including both active and Reserve bases, have combined into one operation at the new AFFSC, Major Ryan said. "The AFFSC will utilize the latest technologies and training to increase the efficiency of Air Force Financial Management operations and free up resources that can be allocated to directly supporting the warfighter and the Air Force mission," he said.

"Our base members will start to experience the couple extra days it takes to get paid on non-Defense Travel System vouchers" Major Ryan said.

The largest change in the Air Force's financial management operations 60-year history, the consolidation will eventually provide more flexibility for customers in obtaining service through 24x7 self-service and contact center options.

Base Finance Office walk-in service will remain for some services; however customers will be encouraged to use the new service options.

The consolidation will provide focused financial services to all Airmen in alignment with the Air Force's goals of ensuring its 700,000-plus men and women are provided with the state-of-the-art technology and outstanding financial services.
