Ground broken for new housing community
"Construction is slated to begin a little after June 23, when equipment arrives," said Tracy House, housing management assistant. "A new community center and maintenance facility will be built before construction starts on the houses."
The community center will feature a tennis and basketball court, a picnic area, a new playground and a sand volleyball court. The maintenance building will store equipment and materials for the overall upkeep of the housing neighborhood. "These 30 new homes will match the square footage of the average three-bedroom home built in the Enid community," said Col. Richard A. Klumpp Jr., commander of the 71st Flying Training Wing. "Every one of these new homes will be better than the best of the old homes that we have, including mine," Colonel Klumpp said. "It's going to be a great thing for our Airmen."
The homes will each have either three or four bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The square footage will vary from 1,500 to 3,000 square feet. Each home will be built with a two-car garage, and feature a "safe room" for storms.
The project is being undertaken by Hunt Building, one of the partners of Pinnacle-Hunt Communities LLC, based in El Paso, Texas. Hunt Building has been in charge of design, construction, maintenance, renovation and management of housing at Vance since last October. Pinnacle-Hunt will maintain 230 homes at Vance.
"This is a great day for Vance Air Force Base, the families who live on the base and those families who will live here in the future," said Colonel Klumpp.
The slated completion on the project is spring of 2009.
