Air Force Ball committee hosting car wash in Enid Published July 27, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Frank John Casciotta 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- (Editor's note: The location of the car wash has moved to the United Supermarket parking lot on West Owen K. Garriott. The time remains the same.) The Vance Air Force Ball planning committee is hosting a car wash from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 13, in the United Supermarket parking lot at the corner of Willow Road and Van Buren Street in Enid. The committee needs four or five volunteers washing cars per shift, said 2nd Lt. Joshua McNelley, the secretary and treasurer of the Air Force Ball planning committee. Each shift will last one hour and volunteers can stay as long as they would like, he said. "Car washes are great for camaraderie and provide an opportunity to interact with people from different organizations on base," said Maj. Christine Tolbert, director of the Air Force Ball planning committee. "We are also having a bake sale (at the car wash) put on by the spouses groups here on base," said Tolbert. "We welcome baked-good donations from anyone though, and we could also use volunteers to help with the sale of the baked goods," she said. "I'd like to see us raise $1, 000," Tolbert said. Proceeds from the car wash will be used to keep Air Force Ball ticket prices down so more people can attend, said Tolbert. For more information and to volunteer for the car wash, contact Tech. Sgt. Charity Phillips, 213-7307.
