Vance’s Biggest Losers to be revealed April 15

Team and individual results of Team Vance's 2009 'Biggest Loser' weight-loss competition will be revealed during a ceremony at 4 p.m. April 15 at the base auditorium.

The final weigh-in is set for April 10, and will determine the overall winners.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett is scheduled to attend the event. The Mayor's own, 'This City is going on a Diet' campaign - similar to Vance's competition - is a challenge to the residents of Oklahoma City to lose a combined one million pounds.

"My goal in establishing this initiative is to bring awareness to the problem [of obesity], introduce programs to help cure it, and inspire all citizens to become healthier and lose weight," said the Mayor. "Obesity in America has reached epidemic proportions and Oklahoma City wants to lead the way to a healthier nation."

Sixty one teams, comprised of more than 245 participants, signed up for the base competition in January.

According to Kellie Jensen, Vance fitness program manager, fitness and nutrition classes were offered throughout the three-month program, with weigh-ins at the beginning of each month.

"When it comes to health and fitness, it is a marathon, not a sprint," said Ms. Jensen. "The Biggest Loser program was designed as a way to help jump start individuals by taking charge of their health and setting personal fitness and nutrition goals, but it is just a small piece of the puzzle. My hope is this Biggest Loser program is a stepping stone to a lifetime of health for our participants."

In addition to announcing the winners, prizes will be handed out, to include free t-shirts for the first 100 Biggest Loser participants to arrive at the ceremony.

"There is a lot of anticipation about who will be this year's Biggest Loser," said Ms. Jensen. "There is a pretty tight race going on with the men's division. I encourage everyone to come out and support our Biggest Losers. Even those who didn't accomplish all of their weight loss goals should be commended for taking a step in the right direction by participating in the Biggest Loser."
