VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- What is it that makes an Airman great?

It is simply showing up every day with pride and enthusiasm.

That’s all you need. Pride and enthusiasm.

Have pride.

Even on your worst day, you are a member of the most incredible Air Force on the planet. The littlest thing you do ripples through the force and drops a bomb on a target somewhere. It helps a helicopter crew rescue troops. It helps a C-17 return joint-service partners to their homes.

Remember, each day, that you make a difference. Have pride in your commitment to serve.

Have enthusiasm.

Show up with a smile. Help those around you. Own the tasks given to you and complete them with enthusiasm. Put your best into everything. Even if you fall short, your enthusiasm will shine through and you will be given more opportunities to learn from your mistakes. And it’s contagious.

Remember each day that your attitude will help others achieve their goals. Have enthusiasm about every task no matter how small.

And that’s it. The secret to success. Have pride and enthusiasm about your job and your contributions. Everything else will take care of itself.
