Army Reserve unit practices bridge building Published Nov. 7, 2012 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Members of the 401st Engineer Company, Detachment 1, with the Army Reserve, practiced assembling a dry support bridge Nov. 2 behind the Armed Forces Reserve Center on base. The bridge is used to allow vehicles to pass over gaps of up to 150 feet or to replace damaged segments of bridges. The bridge requires eight vehicles to transport and eight soldiers to assemble it. Assembly and disassembly takes less than 90 minutes.
