VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – The Vance Air Force Base Baker Gate was closed at approximately 9:20 a.m. today after a military working dog detected a potential threat during a routine cargo inspection.

Vance emergency response personnel were mobilized to assess the potential threat. McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, explosive ordinance team members were dispatched and determined there was no threat to the installation, on-base personnel or the general public.

Vance Security Forces acted appropriately, following established security protocols, using the incident as a training opportunity when it became apparent the threat was unsubstantiated.

The Baker Gate was re-opened at 2:32 p.m.
