Masterson takes command of Vance's T-1A Jayhawk training squadron Published Aug. 30, 2018 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Lt. Col. John Masterson accepted command of the 3rd Flying Training Squadron today during a ceremony held on the flight line side of Base Operations. Lt. Col. Trigg Randall relinquished command when he passed the unit guidon to Col. Robert Haas, the 71st Operations Group commander and presiding official for the ceremony. Following the change of command, a reception was held at the Greven Crosswinds Club on base. The 3rd FTS trains student pilots to fly the T-1A Jayhawk aircraft in preparation for tanker and transport assignments.
