The squadron exchange program at Vance began as a flying unit commander's late night inspiration.

"I was reviewing some documents at home and I thought, 'what else can we do to help our junior enlisted and junior officers get a better understanding of operations?'" said Lt. Col. Michelle Pryor, the 3rd Flying Training Squadron commander.

Her idea led to the squadron exchange program where each month representatives from different squadrons exchange personnel for a tour of work facilities and offices.

The goal of the squadron exchange is to enrich Vance Airmen's experience by increasing their awareness of what goes on outside their duty sections, said Pryor.

"The exchange program was a great experience," said Senior Airman Jordan Yates, a special actions technician with the 71st Comptroller Squadron. "I got to meet different Airmen around base, and see people I know in their workplace, which gave me a better idea of what they actually do.

"The exchange gave me a wider perspective and new appreciation for how the base works," said Yates. "I got a chance to see how valuable each person is to the overall mission. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to show what we do in the finance office."

Those interested in participating in the squadron exchange program should talk with their supervisor.
