Massage chairs moved to Fitness Center for better access Published Oct. 5, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Frank John Casciotta 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The motorized recliners were moved from the Health and Wellness Center to the relaxation room in the Fitness Center, Sept. 21. "The biggest reason we moved the chairs to the Fitness Center was for the customers," said Brian Mittelstet, the Fitness Center director. The Fitness Center is open more hours and days of the week than the HAWC so customers will have more opportunity to use the chairs. The Fitness Center is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Currently, the relaxation room has two recliners available and offers easy listening music with some accent lighting provided by lamps on nightstands next to the chairs. Each chair offers some privacy thanks to plastic plants, which act as barriers between each chair and the entrance. There is no time limit for the use of the chairs. It's first-come, first served rules and anyone who is authorized to use the Fitness Center may use the massage chairs. "We would like to add another chair when we get the funding for it," said Mittelstet.
