Team Vance 'Feds Feed Families' food donations reach 790 pounds

Team Vance has collected and donated almost 790 pounds of food as far for the Feds Feed Families program.

Three weeks remain in the campaign, which is part of the Department of Defense drive to collect and donate 733,800 pounds of food to food banks across the nation.

"We need to step up to the plate and donate to ensure that Vance AFB is well represented," said 2nd Lt. Sara Hutchins, the local coordinator for the food drive.

The 71st Operations Support Squadron leads the way with a total of 173 pounds of food collected.

Other organizations and food collected include:
  • 3rd Fighter Training Squadron -- 125.5 pounds
  • Commissary -- 85 pounds
  • 71st Medical Group -- 84 pounds
  • Wing Staff Agencies -- 78.5 pounds
  • CSC Civil Engineering -- 65.5 pounds
  • 71st Operations Group -- 55 pounds
  • 32nd Flying Training Squadron -- 29 pounds
  • Child Development Center -- 26.5 pounds
  • 25th FTS -- 25 pounds
  • Library and Family Services -- 10.4 pounds
Food weigh-in takes place Tuesdays each week and will continue until Aug. 24.

"We now have collection points at each flying squadron, the Clinic lobby, CDC, Youth Center, CSC Civil Engineering, Building 200, Building 500, 71st OSS, and Aerospace Physiology," Hutchins said.

Items still needed for the Feds Feed Families Food Drive are: peanut butter & jelly, cereal, canned meats, canned fruits & vegetables, baby food, powdered milk, grains, rice, oatmeal, hamburger helper, pasta, mac & cheese, 100 percent juice in all sizes including juice boxes, soups, snacks, diapers, soap, toothpaste and shampoo.
