As a part of the Air Force Library Digital Media Program, the Vance AFB library is offering the Overdrive Program, an online resource with thousands of free downloadable audiobooks, e-books, and music and video files.

The media in the Overdrive Program is available 24/7, said Mary Arthur, the head librarian at the Vance library. She explained that the media can be downloaded straight from the website and then onto e-readers, iPods, or any other compatible media device. Certain files can also be burnt onto CDs.

All downloads are free of charge and the automatic return feature removes the media from the device when the lending time has expired, so there are no late fees.

"There's so much diversity with the program," said Ms. Arthur. To set up an Overdrive account, stop by the library and pick up a bookmark with a unique Overdrive identification number. Then visit http://af.lib.overdrive.com to set up an account.

Although not a part of the Overdrive program, the library also offers many downloadable language learning resources. The library also has an extensive supply of books on how to learn a new language.

Because of the large demand and the lack of available funds, the library has had to reserve its Rosetta Stone software to only active duty military members assigned to an AETC unit.
