Vance Airmen graduate with honors from Airman Leadership School Published Feb. 16, 2011 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Three Team Vance Airmen were among the 15 graduates in Class 11-C at the Airman Leadership School at Altus AFB, Okla. Staff Sgt. Larry Portwood, 71st Operations Support Squadron, earned the John L. Levitow Award, the highest honor given at all levels of enlisted professional military education. Senior Airman Toddree Scott, 71st Operations Support Squadron, received the Academic Award, given to the graduate with the highest academic score in the class. Also graduating in Class 11-C was Senior Airman Gerard David, 71st Medical Support Squadron. The Levitow award is named after Sgt. John L. Levitow, an AC-47 gunship loadmaster who is the lowest ranking Airman ever to receive the Medal of Honor for exceptional heroism during wartime.
