The summer schedule for Vance AFB youth is full of exciting opportunities for education, interaction, and fun. From July 19 to 24, Vance welcomes the Missoula Performing Arts Camp, a five-day playacting camp for kids ages 6-18.

Over the course of the week, the kids will audition for, rehearse, and perform the play "King Arthur's Quest," one of 12 original musicals produced by Missoula Children's Theatre.

The performance will be presented at noon, July 24, in the Base Auditorium, Bldg. 550.
Participating in the performance will not only give kids a ton of fun, but will also teach skills like public speaking, team work, and dedicated practice. Throughout the rehearsal process, kids are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones to understand the value of learning something new and reaching a goal through hard work.

When asked about her experience with Missoula a few years ago, Elizabeth Johnston, daughter of Lt. Col. Paul Johnston, 71st Flying Training Wing, said, "My favorite thing was probably the interaction. You get to meet a lot of new people, and make a lot of new friendships, and it's just a lot of fun to enjoy that experience with them."

Co-founded in 1970 by Jim Caron and Don Collins, the MCT has 45 teams that tour bases in all 50 states, Canada and other countries. This will be Vance's fourth consecutive year hosting the Missoula Performing Arts Camp.

The company's performances have been successful and appreciated by the base community as a chance to come together in support of Vance AFB youth. For more information and registration forms, call 213-7474, or visit the Youth Center, Bldg. 323.
