Warrior of the Week – 1st Lt. Marc “Farva” Armbruster Published April 6, 2010 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Name: 1st Lt. Marc "Farva" Armbruster Duty: First assignment instructor pilot, 8th Flying Training Squadron Hometown: Liberty, Mo. Favorite PT regimen: Weight lifting Mission accomplishments: 1st Lt. Marc "Farva" Armbruster volunteered to be the Special Olympics Village director for the Area 6 Special Olympics held at Vance, April 1. He created base support facilities for over 200 athletes and their families. He volunteered to be in the "dunk-tank," repeatedly dropping into the cold water, delighting the children participating in the event. Lieutenant Armbruster created a squadron Adopt-A-School program. He recruited eight squadron instructor pilots who volunteered eight hours per week for four months. They tutored and mentored more than 30 at-risk children at Hoover Elementary School in Enid. Lieutenant Armbruster organized the squadron's March SIGMO dinner, feeding more than 175 unaccompanied Airmen and families of deployed Airmen. He was the alternate Operations Group representative for the 2010 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign. In addition to his volunteer efforts, Lieutenant Armbruster handles squadron check flight duties, standardization and evaluation liaison officer duties, executive officer duties, flying student lines, administering student check rides, working on his MBA and attending Squadron Officer School by correspondence.
