Jennifer Block is the Air Education and Training Command's winner of the 2010 Joan Orr Spouse of the Year award. She will now compete at Air Force level.

She is the wife of Capt. Beau Block, formerly an instructor pilot with the 33rd Flying Training Squadron here. They recently transferred to Beale AFB, Calif., where Captain Block is learning to fly the U-2, a high-altitude surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.

The Joan Orr award recognizes spouses of military members for their significant contributions to the Air Force. It is sponsored by the Air Force Association and honors the late wife of former Secretary of the Air Force Verne Orr.

According to the AETC award announcement, Mrs. Block's commitment to the Air Force and the Enid community improved the quality of life for over 54 squadron families and countless community members.

As the Vance Officer Spouses' Club vice president, her selfless motivation cultivated relationships throughout the wing and raised more than $24,000 toward base scholarship funds as well as national and local charity organizations.

Earlier this year, Mrs. Block was named the 2009 AETC Key Spouse of the Year at a luncheon held during the 2010 AETC Symposium in San Antonio.
