On Nov. 30, Vance AFB's weather shop donated 23 coats to the Coats for Kids Foundation. Their four week long effort will provide coats for children in Enid, Okla. and even some surrounding towns.

According to Master Sgt. Gary Rann of the 71st Operations Support Squadron's Weather Flight, most people don't think about coats until the temperatures start to drop. Even though Coats for Kids only distributes from October through March, Sergeant Rann and Vance's Weather shop will be accepting coats all throughout the year. He also plans to make a bigger push for the program late next summer and early fall, when people first start to think about cold weather.

The program accepts new coats, sizes 4 through 16 for girls, 4 through 20 for boys, and adult sizes medium through double extra large. Members may bring new coats to Sergeant Rann, the Weather shop, or Coldwell Bankers in downtown Enid.

The Coats for Kids Foundation mission is to ensure that every child who needs a winter coat receives a new one. Coats for Kids distinguishes itself from other, similar programs by only distributing new winter coats and including a pair of new gloves and a new winter hat with each coat. They also accept requests for coats for winter delivery.
