Vance to receive 'Spirit of the Family' Award Published Nov. 3, 2009 By 1st Lt. Agneta Murnan 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Vance Air Force Base is the 2009 recipient of the Spirit of the Family Award, presented by Smart Start Northwest Oklahoma, a Community Development Support Association program. "Vance will be honored for contributions to Air Force families and the Enid community for over 60 years. It is a privilege to recognize Vance AFB with this honor during November, the Month of the Military Family," said Paula Waters, Smart Start coordinator. The award presentation is slated to take place during a luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m., Nov. 16, at the Northern Oklahoma College Gantz Center in Enid. 71st Flying Training Wing Commander Col. Chris Nowland is scheduled to accept the award and to speak. Tickets are available for $12 each. Those interested in attending should contact either 1st Lt.
