February Airman of the Month - Senior Airman Nina N. Gardner Published March 10, 2009 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Senior Airman Nina N. Gardner is an air traffic controller with the 71st Operations Support Squadron RAPCON and is February's Airman of the Month. "Airman Gardner is an outstanding controller, having skillfully recovered 20 aircraft as fast-approaching thunderstorms affected flight safety," said Tech. Sgt Jonathan Clegg, watch supervisor in the RAPCON at Vance. Airman Gardner also garnered full Assist Controller ratings in the Air Force's second-busiest radar facility. Airman Gardner is the Booster Club treasurer, in charge of developing and executing fundraising initiatives. Airman Gardner is also dedicated to higher education; she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree, and is enrolled in two courses with Embry-Riddle. Airman Gardner is originally from Fort Worth, Texas. She enjoys running long distances, and plans on running a half marathon.
