Mission support squadron command changes

The 71st Mission Support Squadron changed to new leadership in a ceremony at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Vance Club.
Maj Juliana Astrachan accepted command of the squadron from Maj Jeffrey Bomkamp.
Major Astrachan comes to Vance Air Force Base from her position as the executive officer to Headquarters Air Education and Training Command Directorate of Personnel at Randolph AFB, Texas.
"I'm honored to lead the 71st Mission Support Squadron and to support this wing," she said. "I know my tour here is going to be fun and challenging. I'm looking forward to knowing and meeting each one of you."
Major Bomkamp now travels to Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB, Ga.
"MSS, I could not be more proud of your accomplishments," he said. "Thank you for your tremendous efforts. Major Astrachan, I promise your people will take care of you. Good luck to everyone in all your future endeavors."
Major Astrachan was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Fresno State University, Calif., in May 1990 and entered active duty in May of 1991. She has served in various positions, including executive officer to the chief of scheduling at Hurlburt AFB, Fla., in 1996 and as military personnel flight commander here from 1999 to 2001.
Major Astrachan's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the NATO Medal.
