The wing received $12,564,877 for unfunded projects and other requirements during the fiscal 2005 close out.
The funding was three times the amount AETC provided in fiscal 2004 and $3 million more than the goal for set by Col. Bryan Benson, 71st Flying Training Wing commander.
"This would not have been possible without the commanders and resource advisers doing their homework and providing the input to make Vance better," said Gene Gould, 71st CPTS financial analysis flight chief. "This includes Air Force and contractor advisors, who continually identify needs and report them to finance and their respective commanders."
Some of the larger items funded were $6,235,000 to repair the Kegelman Airfield runway, $1,923,600 for an administration building, veterinary clinic and parking lot and $1,526,000 to furnish the consolidated logistics complex. A bowling center expansion project was also given the nod for $1,403,000 in the final hours of the fiscal year, including $703,000 of non-appropriated funds
"Finance closes out the fiscal year to close annual appropriations provided by Congress," Mr. Gould said. "It also helps us be prepared for any last-minute funding from the command because of issues at other bases."
"The close out went very well with everyone putting in many hours," said Christopher Keenan, 71st CPTS accounting liaison chief. "We had great support from our resource advisers and cost center managers who worked with us to make close-out as smooth as possible. Even though the wing had a down day Sept. 30, the managers were right here with us ensuring the job got done."
"Thanks to all the commanders, directors and resource advisers as well for all their hard work," Mr. Gould said. "Without all of us working together our successful close out would not have been possible."
