Team Vance received the highest rating possible following its Air Education and Training Command Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment Management Program evaluation Sept. 12 to 16.
"Team Vance earned an 'overall healthy,' a rating equivalent to an Operational Readiness Inspection's 'Outstanding,'" said Col. Bryan Benson, 71st Flying Training Wing commander.
With the fewest amount of findings and no high visibility findings, this rating is the best to date in the command, said John Felt Jr., Computer Sciences Corporation environmental branch manager.
During the ESOHCAMP, Vance also received a visit from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. They conducted a no-notice Resource Conservation and Recovery Act inspection, which Team Vance passed with no findings.
"This shows that Vance focuses on being good stewards with our environmental resources as well as our operations," Colonel Benson said.
These ratings are a complete basewide effort, Mr. Felt said.
"No one single shop can claim this success -- from grounds, to housing maintenance, up to commanders, this could not have been possible without everyone's support," he said. "There were a few minor findings this year, so we've got more to do to prepare for the team's return, but we're ready for them every day.
"I want to commend the base, from commanders, to Airmen, to contractors, everyone helped with this inspection. I've been here 25 years and continue to see Vance as a true team setting. Thanks to every department, squadron and the wing for a job well done."
External ESOHCAMP inspections occur every three years. The AETC ESOHCAMP team will return in 2008.
Inspectors ensure Vance is complying with all Air Force, federal, state and local environmental, safety and occupational health standards, including air, water, fuels, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, natural resources, solid waste, toxic substances, storage tanks, safety and occupational health.
