Units within the 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron are preparing for their move to the new Consolidated Logistics Complex, scheduled to be complete in February.
The CLC will house several 71st LRS offices currently spread across Vance Air Force Base into one new building.
Sections scheduled to move to the CLC include the 71st LRS squadron offices, Computer Sciences Corporation human resource office, local purchase, multimedia, quality assurance, logistics, Trend Western, travel management office, government travel office, services and more.
"This building will optimize my span of control in one building, except for the civil engineering flight," said Maj. Daryl Cunningham, 71st LRS commander. "My office is currently in the services building, but my squadron is all over the base. The CLC will bring most of my flights together, becoming a one-stop shop."
Dan Harris, CSC civil engineer, also sees this move as a quality-of-life improvement.
"The buildings we're in now have been around since 1942," he said. "Things keep breaking and we deal with them until they're fixed. The new building will be easier to keep up with, making us happy and saving the Air Force money."
Some of the vacated buildings, including 600, 606, 518 and others, will come down after the units move to the CLC, Major Cunningham said. Their move is currently scheduled for March.
This project benefits Team Vance as a whole as well, creating more room for deployment needs.
"When we move TMO and government travel out of Bldg. 246, it will allow more room for the deployment center to grow," Major Cunningham said. "Soon people deploying from Vance will also have one-stop 'shopping' for their personal deployment needs to include mobility bags and weapons as well as personnel processing.
"The CLC vision is slowly becoming a reality," the major said. "And after our move, the 71st LRS is ready to continue to provide world-class service to Vance AFB and our external customers."
