VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --
Team Vance celebrated the 68th anniversary of the Air Force Sept. 25 with a Birthday Ball at the Oakwood Country Club in Enid.
Retired Gen. Ronald Fogleman, the Air Force Chief of Staff from October 1994 to August 1997, was the special guest for the evening.
He was joined by fellow American heroes, retired Col. Charles DeBellevue, an Air Force Cross recipient and the leading Vietnam War ace, and retired Lt. Col. Bill Schwertferger a Vietnam War F-4 pilot and a prisoner of war.
The event was centered around a speech from Fogleman and several Vance Airmen who wore heritage uniforms for the event.
The ceremonial cake was cut by Airman 1st Class Danica Gendron, a 71st Comptroller Squadron customer service technician and the youngest Airman present, and Fogleman, the oldest Airman present.
