The Pumpkin Patrol will be on the job again this year watching over trick-or-treaters in search of candy around base housing this Halloween.

Each year members of the 71st Security Forces Squadron man each street in the base housing area to provide a safe environment for trick-or-treaters and their families.

Pumpkin Patrol volunteers can be distinguished by their orange reflective vests, flashlights and the goodies they will hand out.

"We will be handing out glow sticks, stickers, pencils and coloring books," said Staff Sgt. Health Conley, who is leading the Pumpkin Patrol this year. "We will also inspect any candy parents think may have been tampered with."

Trick-or-treating on base housing is from 6 to 8 p.m. The signal to welcome trick-or-treaters is to have the porch lights on. Those without candy can turn them off to signal "no candy here," said Conley.
