Team Vance -- Welcome back! I'm happy to report that Tuesday marked the safe return of every Team Vance member back to base. Only one individual used poor judgement this weekend but thankfully did so without causing personal injury to himself or anyone else. Let me take this opportunity to remind each of you to be on your best behavior at all times. You are professional military members and you have a professional image to maintain. Be a positive role model in our community, our Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, and let our core values be your guide. It's so important, I've included them as my number one objective in my 71st FTW/CC Strategic Intent:
n Operate by our U.S. Air Force's core values (Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence in All We Do)
My other priorities for Team Vance outlined in my Strategic Intent are as follows:
n Build an expeditionary air warrior atmosphere that demands our immediate training excellence while personally preparing ourselves for future expeditionary employment
n Establish a cohesive and cooperative "team" approach among all Vance Air Force Base warriors (military and civilian) and the Enid community, to mutually accomplish our mission
n Dedicate our wing's collective resources to constantly improve the quality of life of all Team Vance members
We currently have 25 Team Vance members deployed around the globe. A true reflection of our quality training, teamwork and professionalism was demonstrated when each person was well-trained, fully-equipped, and ready to work when they arrived at their deployed location. This is possible because you help foster an expeditionary environment at Vance AFB. First, our people take personal responsibility making sure they are ready to go when called; and additionally, Team Vance makes their deployment processing a top priority.
When I say Team Vance, I'm also including our Enid community as a part of that team. While it is true we wouldn't be able to accomplish our mission here without the community's support, we are lucky because we couldn't ask for a more supportive community. If Vance AFB needs anything, whether it's quality, affordable housing downtown or a logistics center that costs $11 million, there are people in this community that will go to bat for us and make sure we have what we need for our people to accomplish our mission.
The logistics center isn't the only construction project on the horizon. If you look around, you can see the many quality-of-life projects underway. The construction will begin on the new housing later this month and we look forward to getting our enlisted families in these houses as soon as possible. Force Protection upgrades and improving our fuel cell areas are all being worked as we speak. All of these projects, if approved, will mean more safety and security for Vance AFB.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to accomplishing our mission of Expeditionary Air Warrior's Training Tomorrow's Leaders -- have an enjoyable and safe weekend!
