One-of-a-kind event at Vance AFB Published Nov. 29, 2006 By Col. Wade Johnson 71st Flying Training Wing Vance Air Force Base, Okla. -- Team Vance -- thank you so much for turning out in full force and supporting the Area 6 Special Olympics last Friday. You truly made a difference in the lives of the competitors. I am continuously proud to be part of a wing with such a large outpouring of volunteerism. Team Vance, your spirit and enthusiasm are contagious. Keep up the good work! Tonight at the club, we will bid farewell to Chief Kallas and I encourage all of you to stop by and wish him well. Everyone in the 71st Flying Training Wing has benefited from his leadership. As you all know, Chief Kallas was very engaged and will surely be missed. Chief Kallas, thank you for all you did for Team Vance, it was my pleasure working with you over the past 18 months, and on behalf of Team Vance, I wish you continued success and happiness as the command chief at the Air Force Recruiting Service. To all of our enlisted personnel, Enlisted Appreciation Night goes Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m. with free food and drinks. After that, the race is on at 7 p.m. when the blackjack tables open up. The auction kicks off at 8:30 p.m. where more than $20,000 in cash and prizes will be given away! This year marks the 29th event, it is a one-of-a-kind event and only Vance AFB has it. The Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce works very hard throughout the year to make this THE event of the year for our enlisted personnel! Every year they outdo themselves and the event gets bigger and better. Please take a moment to thank a chamber representative for their efforts and for bringing this event to Vance AFB. I look forward to seeing you at the club Saturday night, and I wish all of you good luck! Thank you for a safe week and for using your wingman both on and off duty. Have a safe, enjoyable weekend Team Vance.
