Kevin Sonka (right) and his brother Michael cook up steaks for 71st Security Forces Squadron military working dog handlers and their families at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, Oct. 10. Kevin heads the Rocky Mountain Dawgs Project, a non-profit organization formed to honor military dog handlers, as well as all troops and their families. Kevin's son, Marine Cpl. David Sonka, a multi-purpose canine handler attached to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, and his MWD Flex were killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan’s Farah province in May 2013.
