Mendez VCC dedication ceremony
The family of the late Staff Sgt. Christina Mendez, from the 71st Security Forces Squadron, and leadership from the 71st SFS stand for the National Anthem during a dedication ceremony at the Vance Air Force Base Visitor Control Center April 24. A bronze plaque dedicating the visitor center in honor of Mendez, who died in a motorcycle accident in 2016, was unveiled during the dedication which featured short speeches from Maj. Christopher Jackson, the 71st SFS commander, and Mendez’s sister.
