Baker Farm

Ernest Baker sold the family farm to the War Department in 1941. The land was used to build a new pilot training base that eventually became Vance Air Force Base. His son, Ralph Baker, learned to fly at the base, completing more than 70 combat missions in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. (Courtesy Photo)
