Hansen takes command of 5th FTS

VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Lt. Col. Peter Hansen accepted command of the 5th Flying Training Squadron during a change-of-command ceremony held July 7 in the Base Auditorium.

Col. Curt Castillo relinquished command of the flying unit when he passed the 5th FTS guidon to the ceremony official, Col. Roger Suro, 340th Flying Training Group commander.

Suro then passed the guidon to Hansen, marking the transition of command.

Hansen served as the 5th FTS director of operations since June 2017.

Castillo, who pinned on colonel July 6, is taking an assignment as an Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer for the state of Kansas.

The 5th FTS, an Air Force Reserve unit, provides instructor pilots to the active duty training squadrons at Vance AFB.
