VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Little things bring hope. The smile of a child, the song of a bird, the chalk marks left behind by the kids in Vance’s School Age Program.

Nicole Painter and her merry band of sidewalk artists have been leaving messages of hope all around the base.

“You can find them at the Commissary, Exchange, Building 500 and sidewalk in front of base housing,” said Painter, the Training and Curriculum specialist with SAP.

“Our goal is to brighten someone’s day and inspire others to grab a piece of chalk and leave a kind message for someone,” she said.
