Rank/Name:
Maj. John "Mark" Klohr

Squadron: 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron

Date assumed command: July 12, 2013

Previous assignment: Student at Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

Time in Service: 20 years

Hobbies: Avid sports fanatic rooting for the Steelers, Penguins, Braves and Tar Heels while actively working to keep the "honey-do" list at home as short as possible.

Why the squadron is important to the Air Force mission: A lot of work goes on behind the scenes for the Air Force to get bombs on target and to get the right people and resources to the right place at the right time for mission success.

Engineer and Logistics support are the backbone of any mission and that's what we do. In the 71st LRS we are the backbone that enables the 71st Flying Training Wing to train the world's next great pilots for future mission success.

Command philosophy: Lead, empower, and develop both on and off duty. Lead by setting the right environment and clearly communicating what objectives you want to achieve. Then empower those in your unit by allowing them to lead the way on how to achieve those objectives.

Finally, never miss an opportunity to develop those around you either through formal training, mentoring, or public speaking venues. It will pay dividends for them and the Air Force for many years to come.

Goals for new position: Execute a seamless transition in command without interrupting the excellent support the 71st LRS currently provides by maximizing our limited resources in a Safety First environment focused on the mission.
