Name: Joe Webb

Base affiliation: My spouse, Staff Sgt. Candy Webb, is the NCO in charge of the Public Health Flight with the 71st Medical Operations Squadron.

Tell us about your family: We have one son, Jackson, who is five years old. We also have two cats, Steve and Lucy. Both my wife and I are from Oklahoma. My wife is from Guthrie and I am from Yukon.

What is your educational background? I have a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland. I am also currently pursuing my master's degree in Telecommunications Management from Oklahoma State University. I hope to have this degree completed in December 2014.

Do you work? I am currently employed by a medical billing company located in Pensacola, Fla. I telecommute for their information technology department. In 2011 we were stationed in Florida and when we received orders to Vance my employer asked if I would telecommute.

Do you have any hobbies? I like to do anything that involves my family, as well as being outdoors. I also recently spent some time in the woodshop on base. It was a great accomplishment to build something with my hands and get back in a woodshop again.
I am not sure that I can say that I like to run, but I run.

My wife and I often participate in local running events. We recently completed our first half-marathon at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. This was a great event and it was surprising to see how many spectators and supporters were there. It also brought back a flood of memories of April 19, 1995, when the (Murrah federal building) bombing happened in Oklahoma City.

Do you volunteer? I coached my son's soccer team this spring. This was a great experience for me as a first time coach. I had never played or been around soccer, but the young age of the kids made it fun.

I also recently joined the Key Spouse organization with the 71st Medical Group. Getting to meet and help people has been a great experience.

Favorite thing about Enid: When we were traveling to Enid I started to wonder if we were ever going to arrive, after passing wheat field after wheat field. Now that we are here, I have grown accustomed to the small town feel and no traffic. It's also nice to be within driving distance of our families.

Do you have any advice for other spouses? My advice to spouses would be something that our last pastor told us: Get plugged in. A new assignment can be really tasking and overwhelming. To overcome that you must get out and find something to occupy your time. This will also allow you to meet new friends. The military is a small community and chances are you will run into the same people along the line somewhere.

Sarina is the Key Spouse for the 3rd Flying Training Squadron and is married to Capt. Jacob Houston in the 3rd FTS at Vance AFB.
