Mission essential – Travis DePrinzio, 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron Published June 13, 2013 By Senior Airman Frank Casciotta 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Staff Sgt. Travis DePrinzio is the NCO in charge of plans and operations for the 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron. DePrinzio teaches chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear survival skills twice a month to Airmen ranging from junior enlisted to senior officer. He also trains Vance Airman how to use the Air Force incident management system and gives newcomers briefings on local procedures. During the CBRN class, DePrinzio teaches Airmen how to don chemical gear, what to do and how to survive in a contaminated area. DePrinzio writes emergency procedures for the base and teaches how they function. These procedures handle everything from a bomb explosion to a tornado tearing through the base. He trains Team Vance in how to respond to such incidents to create and maintain a common operating picture. By training Vance Airmen how to survive in contaminated areas, DePrinzio is contributing to the 71st Flying Training Wing's mission of deploying combat-ready warriors. He also helps develop professional Airmen by teaching local emergency procedures to newcomers and senior leaders alike.
