Mission essential - Maggie Laws, 71st Flying Training Wing community support coordinator Published May 29, 2013 By Senior Airman Frank Casciotta 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Maggie Laws is the 71st Flying Training Wing community support coordinator. Laws helps develop professional Airmen by teaching them skills proven to enhance the four pillars of wellness: mental, physical, spiritual and professional. "Look at professional athletes," said Laws. "They don't just have a coach that teaches them the game. They have a whole team that helps them with their personal development as well. Airmen have similar support here, and those are the offices I advocate and promote." Laws works with the Chapel staff, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator office, the Airman & Family Readiness Center, mental health services, the office of Equal Opportunity, the school liaison officer and Exceptional Family Member program to assess the overall needs of the base community. She also develops training courses designed to teach Airmen to become resiliency trainers for their peers. "My goal is to create Air Force leaders by providing pathways to the mental tools they will need to succeed," said Laws. Laws supports the Vance mission by developing professional Airmen who can deploy as combat ready warriors.
