Community survey gives voice to base concerns Published April 24, 2013 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Air Force has launched the 2013 Community Assessment survey that will run through May 31. "Only a portion of the Team Vance population will receive an invitation to participate in this survey," said Maggie Laws, 71st Flying Training Wing community support coordinator. The survey is sponsored by the Air Force Integrated Delivery System. It will assess community wellness, strengths and risks that have a direct impact on mission readiness. The survey will be sent to active duty, family members and government civilians. It is an opportunity to let your voice be heard. "I strongly encourage those who do receive an invite to take time to complete the survey as a voice for Vance Air Force Base," said Laws. "This is not a survey for survey sake," said Laws. "Headquarters Air Force is implementing it, and the results will enable community services to determine the climate of the Air Force." Past climate survey results have created single Airman activities, support networks and jobs for spouses. A randomly selected group of active-duty members, reservists, Air National Guardsmen and appropriated-fund civilian employees will be invited to complete the survey via email invitations. Postcard invitations will also be mailed to spouses inviting them to complete the survey. Each invitation will include a link to the online survey. The survey is anonymous and personal identifiable information cannot be linked to participants' responses. Results will provide information to Air Force leaders about the needs of Vance Air Force Base. In addition, the results will be given to the 71st FTW commander and the IDS team in October. "This will provide support services the opportunity to address the results and meet the needs of the military community at Vance AFB," said Laws. For more information about the survey, call 213-5504.
