Advice from the command chief: 'We are ready!' Published March 29, 2013 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- "They are coming, embrace it, we're ready for them, continue to strive for excellence," said Chief Master Sgt. Mark Aman, when asked about the upcoming Consolidated Unit Inspection at Vance Air Force Base. "This inspection is an opportunity for Team Vance to show off," said Aman, the 71st Flying Training Wing command chief. The chief stressed that looking out for each other is important before and during the CUI. Keeping uniform details straight is high on the list. "If you notice a flipped collar or laces popping out of boots on a fellow Airmen, let them know about it," said Aman. "A uniform correction is a sign of respect for your team mate." Part of looking sharp and representing the base well is situational awareness. Remember to stop walking when using a cell phone. Salute a commander's vehicle when it passes. If you see CUI inspectors passing in a surrey, salute. Aman stressed the importance of standing when an inspector approaches you in the work place, regardless of whether they are military or civilian. "Above all, make sure your integrity and professionalism remain intact," said Aman. "If something goes wrong and you don't agree with it, do not argue with the inspectors. Make a note of it, check the regulations and inform your boss, so it can be addressed later." "Keeping the base clean before and during the CUI helps keep our best foot forward," said Aman. "We want that best foot to have a bright shine on it." Have confidence that your leadership has prepared you for this inspection, said Aman. "Continue to strive for excellence. Your hard work will not go to waste." (Article compiled by 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs staff)
