Vance fire department testing hydrants next week Published Oct. 17, 2012 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Vance fire department will conducting flow tests on hydrants beginning next week. The tests are required annually to ensure the hydrants can deliver enough water during emergencies. The testing will start around 7 a.m., beginning Oct. 23 and running through Oct. 29. The testing is scheduled around buildings in the 200 and 300 areas, the flight line and along Elam Road on Oct. 23. The remainder of the base will be tested starting around 7 a.m., Oct. 25. The base housing area will be tested Oct. 29. Sediment may appear in water lines for approximately 24 hours after the tests. Avoid doing laundry or other tasks requiring clear water during that time period. Parked vehicles cannot park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant at any time.
