Top 3, AFSA host Vance Airmen to burger burn Published Aug. 15, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Frank Casciotta 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- More than 50 enlisted Team Vance members attended a burger burn, hosted by the Vance Top 3 and Chapter 990 of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Aug. 13, at the Armed Forces Reserve Center here. "Every year the Top 3 tries to do something for our enlisted members," said Master Sgt. Michael Carradine, the acting first sergeant for the 71st Mission Support Group. "Today we wanted them to get off work and go home on a full stomach. "I just don't think Burger King can do it quite like we do," said Carradine, while flipping a burger, flames from the grill licking at his fingers. "These burgers aren't flamed kissed -- they are flame cooked." The Top 3 puts on events like burger burns to encourage and build camaraderie among enlisted Airmen at Vance. "It's important to get to know your fellow Airmen," said Senior Master Sgt. Jay Hoth, the 71st Force Support Squadron superintendent. "If you're deployed with someone from your home base you'll have something in common to reminisce about and build a relationship on." Approximately 160 hotdogs and 160 hamburgers were grilled at the event. The Vance Top 3 is a service organization composed of senior NCOs. The Air Force Sergeants Association is a federally chartered non-profit organization representing the professional and personal interests of active duty, retired and former Air Force members and their families.
