Security Forces trainer named Warrior of the Week Published July 31, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Frank Casciotta 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Staff Sgt. Nolan Endres, the unit training manager with the 71st Security Forces Squadron, is the 71st Flying Training Wing Warrior of the Week. "The best part of my job is mentoring and training our new Airman," said Endres, a Marco Island, Fla., native. Endres has a number of jobs. He is the self-aid buddy-care instructor, combat readiness instructor, Taser instructor and technician, pepper spray instructor, shoot- and- move instructor, installation augmentee program manager and unit airfield driving manager. Yet, he still has time to assist the community and other squadrons. Endres spent more than four hours reconstituting five Tasers for the Enid (Okla.) Police Department, which saved $316 in service costs. He also devoted 14 hours training seven members of the 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron on individual movement, cover and concealment techniques. "Sergeant Endres is filling a four-man position and doing an excellent job at it," said Tech. Sgt. Micah Lenamond, the NCO in charge of training for the 71st SFS. Having spent 13 years in the military, Endres says he plans to retire some time after his 20-year mark. "I didn't initially want to stay in for 20, but one of my mentors changed my mind," said Endres, who was selected for promotion to technical sergeant in June. "I had to think about what the Air Force provided for me and my family and the benefits I get. "I realized I could be the change I wanted to see," said Endres.
