Air Force Entertainment and Vance Air Force Base present the annual Tops In Blue show at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center, 111 W. Purdue, Aug. 7.

The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. This is a family-friendly event.

This year's tour features the music of life through the rhythms and sounds of pop, country and patriotic tunes. Songs by the Doobie Brothers, Carrie Underwood, Earth Wind & Fire, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum and Whitney Houston will be among those featured throughout the 90-minute concert.

Thirty-five active duty Air Force members will sing, dance, play instruments and show technical skills as the 2012 Tops In Blue team. Leading the team this year is Capt. Ashley Elmore, who hails from Ellsworth AFB, S.D.

As always, Enid has stepped up to bring the Tops In Blue team to town. The team relies on each hosting base to provide a venue, lodging and more than 80 military and civilian volunteers to pave the way for a smooth performance.

Every year talented personnel stationed worldwide compete in a multilevel competition for the right to be selected as a member of Tops In Blue. Only 35 to 40 men and women are chosen to tour the United States and more than 20 countries in 130 performances over a 10-month period.

They are their own road crew, responsible for more than 60,000 pounds of staging, lighting, audio, video and special effects equipment required for each performance.

The group will celebrate 60 years in 2013 as they serve as the Air Force's musical ambassadors throughout the world. To learn more about Tops In Blue, go to www.topsinblue.com.
