The Vance Air Force Base varsity softball team won the Men's Class D United States Specialty Sports Association World Qualifier Tournament in Oklahoma City June 15 with a record of five wins and zero losses against teams from Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.

"It felt good to win a tournament," said team leader Capt. John Stock, an instructor pilot with the 32nd Flying Training Squadron. "If I had to put a word on our morale, I would say it's 'good.'"

The team practices once a week together while throughout the rest of the week they practice their game by playing in the base intramural sports league, said Stock.

The varsity team has 20 team members from squadrons around the base.

"The team gels really well together, "said Stock. "We don't get down on each other and we pick each other up if things don't go well."

While they aren't playing in tournaments the team plays in the Northwest District American Softball Association. Their current record is 10 wins with two losses.
