New Tricare Dental contractor now handling administration of program

  • Published
Metropolitan Life Insurance Company is now handling the administration of the Tricare Dental Program.

The program provides dental coverage to more than 1.9 million enrollees, which include family members of Uniformed Service active duty personnel and to members of the Selected Reserve and individual Ready Reserve and their eligible family members.

Although the contract doesn't officially pass to MetLife until May 1, the administration of the program is already underway.

Tricare Dental does not cover retirees from the military services.

Enrollees who had Tricare Dental coverage under the previous contractor, United Concordia, won't have to re-enroll. Their enrollment is automatically transferred to the new contractor.

Tricare Dental I.D. cards, benefits booklets, payment reauthorization and newsletters will be mailed to enrollees throughout March.

Enrollees whose previous payment methods were through electronic funds transfer or credit card should contact the new contractor to reauthorize those payment methods. Current enrollees will receive instructions in the mail on how to re-establish those payment methods under the new contract.
