The Day the Eagle Cried Published Sept. 6, 2011 By Chaplain (Capt.) Ruth Segres 71st Flying Training Wing Chapel staff VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The day the eagle cried The world stood still. There was an attack against the United States' Power, freedom, and will. Our enemies attempted to divide us. They wanted us to fall. But contrary to their desire There was a unity call. We cried on strangers' shoulders And held strangers' hands. Our differences didn't matter; The eagle's cry we all could understand. "One Nation under God" Was evident on that day. We put aside our differences And came together to pray. Many lives were devastated! Hundreds of people died. The Twin Towers had fallen; That was the day the eagle cried.
