Team Vance ‘Feds Feed Families’ food donations reach 1,170 pounds Published Aug. 10, 2011 By Zach Sproul 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- As of Aug. 10, Team Vance has donated more than 1,170 pounds of food to the "Feds Feed Families" program for distribution to food banks in Enid, Okla. Two weeks remain for Team Vance to donate to the program, a Department of Defense drive to collect and donate 733,800 pounds of food to food banks across the nation. "We need to step up to the plate and donate to ensure that Vance AFB is well represented," said 2nd Lt. Sara Hutchins, the local coordinator for the food drive. This week alone the 71st Force Support Squadron donated 102.5 pounds, she said. The 71st Operations Support Squadron leads the way with a total of 214 pounds of food collected. Other organizations and food collected include: 32nd Flying Training Squadron -- 143.5 pounds 3rd Fighter Training Squadron -- 125.5 pounds Commissary -- 109 pounds 71st Medical Group -- 105 pounds 71st FSS -- 102.5 pounds Wing Staff Agencies -- 78.5 pounds CSC Civil Engineering -- 75.5 pounds 71st Operations Group -- 55 pounds 71st Security Forces Squadron - 52 pounds 33rd Flying Training Squadron -- 32 pounds Child Development Center -- 26.5 pounds 25th Flying Training Squadron -- 25 pounds 8th FTS -- 14 pounds Library and Family Services -- 12.4 pounds Food weigh-in takes place Tuesday each week and will continue until Aug. 24. "We now have collection points at each flying squadron, the Clinic lobby, CDC, Youth Center, CSC Civil Engineering, Building 200, Building 500, 71st OSS, and Aerospace Physiology," Hutchins said. Items still needed for the Feds Feed Families food drive are: peanut butter and jelly, cereal, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, baby food, powdered milk, grains, rice, oatmeal, Hamburger Helper, pasta, mac and cheese, 100 percent juice in all sizes including juice boxes, soups, snacks, diapers, soap, toothpaste and shampoo.
