Vance volunteers recognized during appreciation ceremony

Amy Cummins was named the 2011 Vance Volunteer of the Year during a volunteer appreciation awards ceremony at Eisenhower Elementary School at Vance AFB, April 14. The theme of the night was, "Celebrating People in Action."

A Longevity Award was also presented to Don and Shirley Marquardt for their countless hours and years of service to Vance AFB.

Col. Russ Mack, the 71st Flying Training Wing commander presented the volunteer awards.

Among Mrs. Cummins' many volunteer efforts are serving on the board of directors for 4RKids for two years, on the fundraising committee, and was recently selected as the secretary for the board of directors. She is also a head coach and "buddy" for the Miracle League for special-needs T-ball players.

The Longevity Award was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Marquardt for their work at the Vance Retiree Affairs Office, the Garfield County Veterans Council, the Enid Historic Preservation Commission and the Waverly Historic District's Neighborhood Association.

Also nominated were Neanne Clinton, Frank Seitz, Bonnie Bowers, Christina Taylor, Katie Titus, Katherine Olson, Amy Russo, Kara Schumacher, Kelly Bishop Adams, Terry Crawford, Tessa Gorski, Robert Bodick, Kim Roach and her son Caleb, Sadie Gant, Barb Truman, Deb Meidel and Henry Deunk.

All the nominees were presented with a certificate of appreciation and a gift from Colonel Mack.
