Kiersten Thompson 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- A "Kick the Silence" kickball tournament is scheduled from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 15, at the base softball fields. "Kick the Silence is a program designed to increase sexual assault awareness," said Savannah Lohn, a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator victim advocate at Vance. "It will be a fun, non-threatening environment." The Kick the Silence tournament is one event in Vance's support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month during April. "We are hoping to make this an annual event," said Mrs. Lohn. The tournament has been designated as an alternate duty location. With supervisor approval, Team Vance members can come out and participate or cheer on their team. Music and activities will also be available. The SARC will have an information table with giveaways. There will also be a SARC on location to answer questions or to just talk. The tournament will be made up of four teams, one from each Group and the Wing Staff Agencies. It will include three 45-minute games. The winner of the tournament will receive a trophy.
